Wearing all Benefit products: Hello Flawless liquid foundation and powder, Chacha tint and They’re Real mascara.

Fyi, I haven’t edited these pictures, I just put my watermark on them :)

What does Hello Flawless do?

Brightens, hydrates and gives luminous complexion
Natural finish with light-diffusing ingredients instantly brighten skin
Light to medium coverage
Exclusively developed Oxygen Wow Hydrating Complex:
– Helps to boost cellular respiration for a “plumping up” effect on skin
– Helps to protect against environmental stresses
– Contains vitamin C & E derivatives known to prevent signs of aging
Prevents sun damage with broad spectrum SPF 25 PA+++
Oil-free and fragrance-free
Developed for all skin types

What do I think about the Hello Flawless liquid foundation and powder?

- It’s a light to medium coverage foundation

It’s has a really glowy, dewy finish

- Super light, it does not feel like you’re wearing anything on your skin

-I used the powder to tone down the dewiness of the liquid foundation because I have combination skin and I feel like glowy can turn into shiny for me. it doesn’t give you a complete matte finish which is nice because your t zone doesn’t look too shiny and your cheeks glow.

-I’m not wearing any concealer in these pics but I normally would for my dark circles, I’m a fan of high coverage!

-I would recommend getting the liquid foundation and the powder together, I don’t like the look of the liquid foundation alone. It looks a lighter or maybe that’s because it’s so dewy, I love the powder because it’s a little darker and creates a more natural look. I think I’ve suffered with oiliness so much that dewiness just annoys me, so I need a powder.

-I didn’t need to use a lot of product to get this coverage and I didn’t find it streaky, it’s very easy to put on with a foundation brush.

What didn’t I like?

They have 9 shades only, I wish they had a few more to include darker skin tones.

It lasts for about 4 to 6 hours in Dubai weather (heat, humidity, freezing air-conditioning and then heat again!) which is not as long lasting as my Mac Prolongwear (all day, baby!) but I use this anyway because it’s probably the most comfortable foundation I have ever tried and I’m done with the office in about 6 hours anyway :)

They say it’s for all skin types but I personally think it’s better suited for dry or combination skin (I have combination skin).

Would I buy this?

Yep. I save my Prolongwear for events or days when I know I’ll be out for ages but I think Hello Flawless is great as an everyday foundation. It has a natural, healthy finish and it’s so light on the skin!

Have you tried Hello Flawless? What did you think?

Priced: 165 AED | 12.50 KD | 17 BD | 164 QR | 169 SR
Available to buy at: all Faces and Sephora in GCC, selected Areej and Debenhams stores in UAE

Shopping for Plus Size Lingerie

$
0
0

It’s a no brainer that the plus size fashion industry is only just evolving, surveys are published about how we prefer shopping online without noting the fact that it’s our only choice. It’s a similar situation with plus size lingerie too, I feel like we’re condemned to the granny section of the store. In my experience, the ladies’ plus size lingerie section, if it exists at all, is usually this lone corner with an explosion of black, white or nude. Bleh.

I don’t even have the biggest boobs (in my opinion) but I find it tough to find lingerie in my size and expecting it to be pretty or sexy is almost unrealistic.

FYI You don’t have to be sexy or pretty for anyone, that’s not your obligation as a woman but you do have the right to feel pretty and sexy no matter what your size is. Feeling sexy is a different concept from looking sexy. Feeling sexy is an inner confidence, a feeling of pride about your body and hey, just like you know you deserve a pretty dress and will feel fabulous in it, the same theory applies to lingerie as well.

I really liked what I saw on the plus size lingerie section of Marisota. I was actually a bit overwhelmed at the variety of style options! From front fasteners, plunge bras, minimizers, multi way etc to the colours and fabric, they even have these options for sizes that go past a G cup.

clip_image001clip_image002clip_image003clip_image004clip_image005clip_image006

If you’re a bit of a noob about these things (like me), I’d recommend checking out their Bra Fitting Guide video. I didn’t know a lot of the tips they mentioned but I do know that the right size makes a huge difference on the shape of your body, your posture and can even help if you’ve been experiencing back pain.

clip_image007clip_image008clip_image009

I love all the colours and little details, and as you can see, they have a nice selection of cute every day wear and glam evening wear.

Marisota also had Gok Wan’s latest shape wear line which I’m quite excited to try as I’ve heard lots of good reviews. Plus, I love the pretty colours! It would be nice to have shape wear you’re not embarrassed about anyone seeing, you know?

clip_image010clip_image011

I’m really glad we have plus size lingerie options online at least and hopefully retailers will see the potential to stock these in store, it’s annoying to see smaller girls enjoy their shopping experience while ours is practically non existent.

Where do you usually shop for your lingerie? Any recommendations?

I’ll let you know about my shopping experience with Marisota, you get 20% off your first order so I’m sure I won’t regret it hehe.

Hope you’re having a fabulous Friday!

Asos Curve floral kimono, F21+ denim shorts, Cambridge Satchel, H & M sandals

On my way out for a coffee but I thought I’d blog this look even though it’s not one of my favorites. I have mixed feeling about this kimono, it’s not the easiest thing to style without looking like you accidentally left your house in a bathroom robe or something. I like it with denim shorts, not so sure about a body con mini or leggings. I tried both and the bf kept telling me I looked like a lampshade. Oh well!

I’ve been stuck indoors all day so I can’t wait to get out even though our weather seems to be pmsing, it’s supposed to be summer and it’s hot but we had strong winds with thunder and lightening last night. Weird, much?

Anyway, I’m off to enjoy the last few hours of my weekend.

Until next time :)

Zara shirt, Splash leggings, Asos shoes, H&M purse

Not everyone is going to like this outfit but that’s okay, I just wanted to push my boundaries and try something new instead of something perfect. I have mixed feeling about it now in retrospect but meh, you can’t always get it right. I’d rather be fearless in fashion than fit in.

Since summer is upon us here in Dubai, I got myself a fabulous facial from In & Out over at Bloomingdales, Dubai Mall. My skin tends to break out and get oilier during summer, it’s such a pain and I can’t remember the last time I treated myself to a facial.

They did a skin analysis with this thingy:

`IMAG0095

And I got a close up look at my skin:IMAG0097

Quite gross to be honest, I was horrified! But my skin therapist assured me that with the exception of a few clogged pores, I have good skin. Apparently, this is what normal skin looks like. She said I should be using a day cream, night cream and eye cream on a daily basis and that I should exfoliate once a week. Drinking lots of water helps but we need all the help we can get when it comes to moisturizing.

My facial consisted of a few In & Out beauty treatments, from a refreshing cleansing milk to a much needed but gentle exfoliation, facial massage and a brightening mask.

428149_10150700338415731_384359140730_11704583_1918660592_n

I was very pleased with my experience! I walked out with super soft and rejuvenated skin. I kept touching my face like a total dork afterwards.

My skin therapist was incredibly helpful, I love that she gave me a personalized evaluation and she wasn’t pushy about buying their products, she was very focused on helping and advising. I guess their products speak for themselves really (currently using the exfoliator she gave me and loving it).

Let me know if you check them out :) You can learn more about In & Out here: http://www.inoutbeauty.com/

I’m not here to teach you about fashion or tell you what to wear. I’m here to share what I wear and my philosophy on fashion. I am by no means an expert. I just aim to inspire other girls, of any shape or size, to have fun with fashion, to use it as a tool to feel fabulous, beautiful and confident. See, some people think you have to follow rules and trends to be stylish or chic, “Slim those thighs” or “Balance a bold print with a neutral colour” blah blah. But where the hell is the fun in that? I use fashion as a creative outlet of self expression and while I love trends, I’m more interested in interpreting them to say ‘Weesha’. I will always live by my “Wear what you want, be who you want, fuck everyone else’ motto because I want to live happily (and maybe in delusion) according to my rules and my standards. Other people can hate or share their well meaning opinions but I’m not responsible for that, I’m responsible for the one life I have and I’m not letting anyone else control that. I’m not hiding my body to make anybody else more comfortable, thanks.

Ok, end serious tone. In other news, why can’t Asos Curve come in smaller plus sizes too? Plus size doesn’t start at 20 just like it doesn’t end at 26!

Hugs and more hugs :)

The Body Image Project

I don’t know if you’ve come across The Body Image Project before, if you have, I’m pretty sure you would love to be reminded about it again :)

You will be inspired, you might even get emotional, and hopefully you will share too.

I think part of learning to love yourself is confronting everything that has made you feel that way, whether it’s your favorite fashion magazine, a TV show, or even if it’s your parents or a best friend, etc. You have to acknowledge it and realize that whatever they or the rest of the world is saying doesn’t necessarily have to be right and you don’t have to accept their definitions and standards.

You know I could write essays about this but I won’t. You know my story, I’m more interested in hearing yours. A blog post perhaps on how you’re dealing or dealt with your own issues?

Lots of love and strength,

Asos Curve dress, h&m purse, River Island necklace and shoes (but I got the shoes on sale at asos, yay!) My lovely Swarovski ring was a 2 year anniversary gift from the boy <3

I’m not crazy about this dress to be honest, it’s way longer than I thought it would be. Like, if I stretch it out completely, the peplum bit would sit on my hips, so I had to roll it for it to sit on my waist. If you’re afraid of body con, you might shy away from this dress, I get nervous about wearing body con too but the colour and peplum were too fab to resist- screw it!

The shoes are my super stars in this outfit, L-O-V-E them so much! I love the pale pink and bright orange colour block, and they’re not too high so they’re very comfortable. It was love at first sight at the store but I have a price limit when shopping :( Sometimes, there’s a line I just can’t cross because reality is, I’m not rich! When you think “hmm pay my electricity and water bill or buy these shoes?” you’re definitely not rich, haha. Oh well, thankfully the fashion gods were being nice to me and I saw them for half off at asos :) hash tag dreams do come true, anyone?

Hope your weekend is going as good as mine is!

This is a typical work outfit for me, I’m lucky enough to be picky about working at places that require corporate clothing, I just couldn’t do that! It’s my idea of hell. I know, I’m a diva.

I just got back from a fabulous birthday holiday in Sri Lanka, I wanted to spend my birthday with elephants and I had such an amazing day, words can’t explain my happiness. I’ve always been in awe of elephants and now, I have so much more respect and love for them.  I miss Sri Lanka a lot, it is such a beautiful place. I’ll post pics soon so you can see what I mean by amazing! Bear with me while I get over my holiday blues, it’s back to the daily grind in Dubai.

If you’re in town on the 26th of May, you might want to check out this awesome charity event organized by the Rotaract Club of Jumeirah ( a volunteering service club). The event is a dance performance called 'Dance my Community'  and it will be held at the American University in Dubai (AUD). It’s a great way for talented UAE dancers and performers to show off their moves and raise funds for the Palestine Red Crescent Society. It’s also a great way to build up your karma, plus you get to have fun while supporting a great cause :) So get your tickets from Time Out and hopefully we’ll bump into each other there!

The folks at Kiyonna were nice enough to send me this dress for a review, so thanks Evania and everyone else at Kiyonna :)

The quality is wonderful, I think that’s my favourite thing about the dress, the fabric and construction is so good! If you have a big tummy like me, and you’re not too crazy about it sticking out, you’re going to have to wear this dress with spanx. Maybe this is why I had a problem because it fit fine on my arms but the ruching kept stretching out and drooping down because of the weight of the dress or maybe because it was looser there? I’m not quite sure! Anyway, I chose the dress and I upsized to be on the safer side as well.

I kept everything else pretty neutral and simple because I feel it works best as an elegant evening option, looking at the pictures right now- I think this is the most grown up I have ever looked haha! It’s a nice change :) I think it’s a lovely option if you want to look sexy without showing any skin, the texture, colour and your curves will take care of that.

Make sure you check out their Real Curves section to see their dresses on other fabulous bloggers and Kiyonna fans!

I do apologize for being such a slacker lately, my style mojo is still on holiday, I guess. I promise to get my act together this weekend for a total kick ass OOTD post <3

Stop being such a girl, etc

  • For some reason, my online feed has had a number of headlines reporting rape, dress codes for women (and only women for some reason), and an endless list of slut shaming comments in reply (I really need to stop reading the comments section). Can we please stop blaming women? The problem is with the ignorance and the mentality.  The solution will never be to control women.

Resort Shapewear Swimsuits

$

So, it’s safe to say that the swimsuit season of Spring/Summer ‘12 has officially begun, I’m sure you’ve seen many of the amazing plus size bloggers rocking their bikinis, tankinis, etc and if you haven’t worked up the courage yet- how about some baby steps?

You don’t have to straight away slap on a bikini if you’re not comfortable with it yet. Keep in mind, the keyword is ‘comfortable’ because if you’re anything but that, you’re probably not going to enjoy your time by the pool/ beach.

Also, keep in mind that unlike magazines, you find women of all shapes and sizes on the beach and they’re too busy enjoying the sun to care about other people’s thoughts.

When it comes to swim suits, I prefer going for shapewear options just because I like a good silhouette- something that is curve friendly, fits perfect, hides certain lumps and bumps and basically streamlines your figure. When all these boxes are ticked, I’m about 10 times more comfortable in a suit, plus I know I won’t be tugging at anything.

I’m a big fan of bold prints and retro designs just because I like wearing accessories at the beach too- flowers in my hair or stylish sunglasses, maybe even a bangle or two. Weesha’s gotta represent under all weather conditions :P hehe.

Anyway, Isme.com contacted me about their Resort Shapewear designer swimwear collection, so I thought I’d share a few of my favourites with you. A few of them are on sale and most of them have reviews listed below as well. Let me know what you think of these, and I really hope they inspire you to brave it out at the beach and just enjoy your summer. You deserve to be there as much as anyone else!

This dress runs big so I would suggest downsizing ( although you don’t get a choice if you’re below a 20 uk). Nevertheless, it’s a dream to wear, I love the lace neckline. The fabric doesn’t crumple easily and it’s light enough for summer.

These shoes were an impulse buy but I have no regrets, I feel like a rockstar godzilla stomping around (in a good way of course).

I recently attended Mikyajy’s fragrance launch for Dicey Royale and Flirt Dreams at Amika, Monarch Hotel. Check them out if you’re looking for a new summer fragrance, I really like Flirt Dreams- it was light and very girly!
